Why My Word for 2025 is ‘Shine’—And Why You Should Choose One Too

I don’t do New Year’s resolutions.

I know, I know—goal-setting is practically a personality trait at this point. But hear me out: Instead of a long list of promises that often get abandoned by mid-February, I choose one word each year. One word to center my decisions, challenge my growth, and keep me focused. It’s a simple shift, but it has changed the way I approach life.

The Power of One Word

In 2023, my word was alignment. That year, I made sure every “yes” I gave was in service to my future goals and dreams. If it didn’t align, it didn’t get my energy. And let me tell you, learning to say “no” with confidence? Game. Changer.

Then came 2024, the year of more. More impact, more opportunities, more abundance, more faith in myself. It was about stepping into everything I deserved—without apology. And funny enough, more didn’t just guide my year—it also became the foundation for something bigger. When I was creating this blog and podcast, the name Taylor’d for More just felt right. Because that’s what this space is all about—making room for more joy, more purpose, more alignment, and more of what we actually want in life. Coincidence? I think not.

And now, as I step into 2025, my word is shine.

Because here’s the thing: We all deserve to walk in the fullness of who we are. Not half-stepping, not dimming our lights to make others comfortable, but shining.

I don’t know if it’s getting older or just getting wiser, but every year, I feel more at home in myself. And that’s a beautiful thing. There’s something powerful about owning your gifts, celebrating your growth, and showing up exactly as you are. And this year, I’m embracing that power fully.

So, 2025 is the year I shine—unapologetically, boldly, and with the kind of confidence that says, “I am exactly who I’m meant to be.”

How to Choose Your Word for 2025

Now, if you’re thinking, “Okay, Taylor, this sounds great, but how do I actually choose a word?” I got you. Here are a few simple steps:

  1. Reflect on last year.

    • What worked? What didn’t? Where did you feel stuck, and where did you feel most in alignment? Your word should reflect what you need more of or what you’re ready to step into.

  2. Think about how you want to feel in 2025.

    • Instead of focusing on what you want to do, focus on how you want to be. Do you want to feel more confident? More disciplined? More free?

  3. Keep it simple.

    • Your word doesn’t have to be deep or complicated. One word is enough to shift your mindset and guide your choices.

  4. Make sure it excites and challenges you.

    • A good word should push you out of your comfort zone just enough to spark growth. If it feels too safe, you might want to stretch a little further.

Your Turn—Pick Your Word!

So now, I want to hear from you!

And if this blog resonated with you, send it to a friend who needs this reminder. Because we’re all meant for more—and this is the year we shine.
